Today I finally took my bike for a ride, it's been a while, about a month from the last time I even pull it out of the garage.
It's still winter and I've been really busy, that's the reason for me not riding, but it had to be done, some call it mototerapy.
Finally a weekend full of sun and without commitments. I've fixed a couple of things I remembered were not OK and I've charged the battery the day before, just to be sure, I didn't want to suit up and have the bike not starting, it happened to me before, nor i wanted to have something rattling or not working ruining my ride.
I put my helmet and gloves on, I get on the motorbike, I put her in gear, I slowly let go the clutch and I finally drive away from my house.
It's been a while and I can feel that my throttle inputs are not as smooth as they should, I have to dust off, nor the bike is particularly smooth, it has been a while also for her.
After few miles we are both back in sync, the tarmac flow under the wheels and I can fully enjoy the experience: breaking, leaning into the corner, and accelerate out of it, each corner that I manage to ride smoothly give me an enormous satisfaction.
Every time that I get back on my bike after taking a pause from riding the same thought arise: "Why didn't I got back sooner", I've missed riding a lot, it is an incredible feeling.
It is dangerous and I'm fully aware of it, I had a couple of crashes, you can hurt yourself easily and once that happen it stays with you, but still, it truly is the best thing in the world and I believe that facing your fear is part of what make this experience really incredible.
After getting of the motorcycle with a big smile on my face I make myself a promise, that I would ride again soon, after all spring is coming and I'm surrounded by incredible hilly roads.
If I can learn a lesson from this is, you can wander with your mind about the perfect bike, on the perfect trip or you can ride whatever you have whenever you can.
